Time Extension for Pics!

Hi everyone!

It was pointed out to me that we might have to extend the deadline for the request for pictures….people could be on vacation and i had some emails from some members of the community that didn’t think they could meet the deadline.  We’ll extend the deadline then until September 15, 2012.  I want to thank the members who have submitted pictures and please feel confident that they will be put up soon in the random image generator that is on the lower left hand side of this website.

We also have a big announcement coming up about our 3rd recording project.  The details will be finalized by next weekend (August 26, 2012) and my blog on that date will have the details about this project up.  Please keep in mind some items:  these will be repeated, but I want to make sure that if anyone is submitting a song that it MUST BE IN .WAV FORMAT!!!

(Pretty subtle or what….LOL!)  In our last project, we had submissions handed in as mp3s and as finished mastered songs…..these will be rejected for this project.  To master an mp3 and to re-master a mastered song to make it sound like it should belong on a compilation album is brutal in terms of studio time….which translates into a very expensive endeavour (providing that it can be done at all!!).  Only .wav files will be accepted and they must peak at -6 to -4 dB. Don’t mix the song to peak at 0 dB…..this is an old school way of thinking which can lead to “amateur” sounding recordings….in any musical form, you need some headroom for the mastering process.  If a song is “too hot” the mastering process will need to bring the loudness and overall feel of the sound down quite a bit. If a mix needs to be tweaked a little or fixed, I will be very specific about what needs to be done and a certain prescribed extension will be given to the deadline – if this needs to happen.  Also, this next project will only be a digital download; it will not be made into a physical CD.  The reasons for this are all practical…it costs a lot of money to make CDs and I would rather spend the money on the mastering process in order to make the compilation sound as professional as possible.  Again, there will be more details  about the technical aspects of the recording when the announcement is made next week.

And, I hate bringing this up – but this did happen on our first compilation, remember that we are Catholic Metal….we are metal and we are Catholic and the content of the songs (e.g. subject matter, language) should reflect the philosophy and beliefs of our Holy Mother Church.  We will not “bleep”out bad content…it’s not needed and is a pain to get rid of in a professional audio sense.  I hate to bring this up, but we had two submissions rejected….not having the original tape or the original digital copy source is not an excuse.

And what is the subject matter of this new project….that my friends, will be on next week’s blog…..until then…

Yours In Christ!
