To all the artists who contributed to this compilation,

I would like to say congratulations on your hard work! God has truly worked through you all! I happen to be a metalhead myself and also a very devout Catholic. Coming from a 16 year old, I would say that everyone did a great job! I plan to show this to some people in my youth group and see if they actually try to use one of your songs during worship. XD

Anyways, I’d like to say this prayer for this community that truly praises God in the Catholic sense:

Prayer for the Catholic Metal Community

Lord God, we thank You for providing us with the gift of music.
We thank You for the gift of inspiration to write songs that PRAISE YOU LOUDLY.
We here in the Catholic Metal community thank You for the gifts of talented artists such as these.
May they keep their spirits alive as they continue to praise You with a loud voice and loud music, so in turn the whole world may see your power and love.

We pray for the souls who feel insecure because they feel like they can’t be both a devout Christian and a fan of music generally considered satanic by most.
Speak to them, Lord, saying that metal is not a genre completely reserved for the devil.
Say that, in fact, this music style can be used against him.
Show them that fire can be fought with fire.
Show them how to worship you in their own style.
Show them that they should really stand out, no matter what they receive from their peers.

All of this we pray in Your Most Holy Name.
    Amen.

Glory to God! and Praised Be Christ our King!

Thank you for the kind words, and especially the prayer, XD. Your enthusiasm for Catholic metal is quite obvious and is an encouragement to all of us at Catholic metal. Keep it going strong, and LOUD for the greater glory of our Lord and His Holy Church.

You said that you want to show some people in your youth group and see if they will actually try to use one of our songs during worship. If by “worship” you mean para-liturgical services like youth prayer and praise services, youth rallies, etc., then, go for it. Glory to God! However, if you mean for use during the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, then please do not. Though there may be some disagreement among us Catholic Metal members, out of deeply placed theological and liturgical conviction, I believe this music is not meant for the Sacred Liturgy.  So I humbly request that you hold off on suggesting it for such use. I appreciate your honoring this request.

May Our Lady of Grace obtain for you, your youth group, and your parish many graces.

      In JMJ,

      Adam/Katholicus

You’re very welcome, guys. And of course I won’t use the songs for Mass. LOL I can never imagine that!

By the way, Adam, I love your group’s song, “Pull Me Through.” I can never seem to stop playing it on my iPod. The lyrics just hit me straight in the heart and gave me more inspiration to praise God as loudly as possible. (Of course, not in Mass, I want to respect the tranquility in the Holy Sacrifice.)

To all the artists: Great job and keep PRAISING HIM LOUDLY!

        Ad majorem Dei gloriam

        Mark
(Someday, I’ll be a Catholic Metal musician myself just like you guys. I’m only 16 right now, but I’m dreaming of being part of a Christian metal band. You guys are my inspiration!)

Thank  you so much for your kind words and for the prayer.  You have struck one of the key elements of our community; or at least, what I think is a key element  – and that is prayer.  I’m hoping that we as a community are authentically metal but also authentically Catholic.  That is one of the undeniably important “prime directives” that we need to keep in mind as we  continue to write, record and share music reflecting the theology of Christ’s One and Only Holy  Catholic Church.  I do agree with Adam – our music could have great potential for praise and worship – but I don’t think it should be used for the Holy sacrifice of the Mass.   To be authentically Catholic, we have to reflect on the words of John Paul II when he said (sorry,,,,I’m paraphrasing) that the holy rosary is the most perfect prayer we have after the Holy sacrifice of the Mass in terms of importance to our faith.  There are many reasons for this….but I think one of the most important reasons has to do with the world-wide community of the  Catholic Church.   We need to realize that there definitely is a time to RAWK!! but there is also a time for prayerful reflection – the mass is definitely a time for prayerful reflection….but a praise and worship concert is definitely a time to RAWK hard and loud in our praise to Christ and all that He has done for us.

May the blessings of the Easter Season find you and your family happy, healthy and holy and may the Divine Assistance always be with you!

      Yours In Christ!!!!
