I know I am not exactly promoting a band here, but here goes.
I found this forum a few months ago while researching topics to write about for my so far unsuccessful attempt at writing about Cathlic music. I have since discovered a passion for designing catholic/christian/themed goth/metal T-shirts. Some of my work can be seen at www.christiangoth.spreadshirt.com.
What I want to do is establish myself as a designer of metal-themed T-shirts, be the designs reflection of the band itself, an idea contained within a song, or even a random idea. I currently have submitted a few designs to a contest but look to get serious with this. Any suggestions?

I’d think some shirts that said these statements are cool: “If you love women, Incinerate Pornography,” or just “Incinerate Pornography!!!”; there’s also “True Love is Brutal” with some kind of picture of Christ suffering from carrying the cross, scourging, being crowned w/thorns, etc. to show how brutal love is; there’s also “Slaughter your Sins.” For any extra details, use your creativity; I hope you come up with good stuff w/these suggestions. for some other suggestions, the statements could been in blood red color and the shirt be black. If you want, you can pray the Rosary everyday to get inspiration (it works for me on guitar, growling, lyrical writing and stuff). You can offer it for a bunch of other things too. Another suggestion, you should make shirts that politically incorrectly target anti-Catholic trash like abortion, unchastity, relativism, and things like that in a very extreme metal design. You could also make shirts w/St. Olaf (viking warrior saint) and St. George, cause they were warriors. You can also make a shirt w/St. Michael stabbing satan w/a spear, but make it more modern than all the old pictures and more metal too. I hope these suggestions are good. Forgive me for the disorganization; I’m in brainstorm mode, lol.
A lot of that sounds like the cheesy stuff that Protestant metal bands already make. Which is ineffective and gets laughed at. They’re typically viewed as judgmental and considering how most people view the Church, Catholicism and priests, things that are more love-oriented, brutal, and really make you think would probably go over the best. Like stuff about Mary, saints, martyrs (ESPECIALLY martyrs), RELICS, and quotes from them. Also, authors like G.K. Chesterton, Flannery O’Connor (her stuff is INTENSE and you could give it a southern “sludge” look…
), and contemporary ones like Peter Kreeft would be rather interesting. Check out what the Orthodox have going on for them as far as punk and metal shirts go for an idea as to what I’m talking about…

My ideas probably are a bit cheesy cuz my favorite metal bands are protestant, LOL. Oh well.

Thank you for the ideas; they are very good ideas although some of them are more radical; nonetheless I’m sure there are people whom that would appeal to also.
Right now, though, I am trying to work on vectorizing my existing designs asopposed to making newer ones. I have hit a few setbacks on the road as well, so it’s been slower than I expected.
