Where does your band gig?  Just looking for ideas since I’ve got an EP coming out in a couple months.

    Hi Chris!

The band I play in (Critical Mass) isn’t really metal…more like hard rock.  We play conferences, churches, we have had the pleasure of touring throughout most of North America since I joined the band in 2006.

There are all sorts of options for you if you have a band; most of the artists in the Catholicmetal community are a “one man band” and doing a gig or a tour might be difficult for them.   There are several steps you can take – here are a couple of them.

    1) Get on social networks like facebook, twitter, etc. and make a band page and put in the time to network…..not 10 minutes a week…i’m talking about 8-10 hours a week.  If you’re going to do this, social networking is the best way to get the word and your music out.  The marketing you can do in 1 hour would have cost thousands of dollars in the 80s/early 90s!!

    2) Make a list of the Catholic/Christian parishes in your area (or the area that you are touring in) and make a list of the email addresses for the parishes.  Try to see if there is a youth ministry and get in contact with the person responsible for this.  Sometimes, some parishes will combine to make the event a larger one. Let me know if you need more info about this….this is a really cool way of getting gigs happening.

    3) Don’t make press kits…they are a waste of time and money.  If you have a half-decent looking facebook/twitter – whatever – it should be good enough.  If you can, put up a website that is the direct line to your band…but just because you have a website, you can’t just be passive.

I’ll get you more advice over the coming days/week.

Let me know what you think of these steps!

    Yours In Christ!
