I just received word from Dave Wang – the singer of Critical Mass which is the band I’ve been playing guitar and keyboard for since 2006:
We’re very sad to let you know that one of the original members of Critical Mass, Tom Pawelko, has been diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer. This happen quite suddenly. Please pray for him and his family. We are also asking for the intercession of Pope John Paul II, for whom Tom played during World Youth Day 2002. We were literally a few feet from this holy man during the Papal Welcoming Ceremony.
Please pray for Tom, his wife and his children.
Blessed John Paul II – please pray for Tom and his family. Please pray that the healing power of the Holy Spirit help all of them in this time of need. Amen.
Thanks in advance for any prayers from our community. Tom is an excellent acoustic guitarist and vocalist. I had the pleasure of jamming with him a couple of times when I played for Matt Devine several years ago.

I’m so sorry to hear about the pain and suffering that Tom, his family, and friends are experiencing. I will definitely pray on it, and encourage others to do the same. God bless.

Just an update: Tom isn’t doing very well at all. A friend of mine visited him earlier in the week and Tom has lost a lot of weight – he is still upbeat and brave, but it looks like he might lose his fight with cancer. Please continue to pray for him and his family.

Just to let the community know…Tom died last night (Nov. 29/2013). The Critical Mass familly has lost a truly inspirational member of the original band who was a model Catholic in word, deed and prayer. Please pray for Tom’s wife and kids as they deal with this tragedy. St. Peregrine, pray for Tom, his family and all of us!
