A lot to think about…

I hope everyone is having an awesome summer. Personally, I feel like summer never came – in Ontario we normally have temperatures hovering in the low 30 degrees Celsius (about 86-90 degrees Fahrenheit) but we have been hit with temperatures in the 17-22 degree Celsius range (about 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit). Hopefully we will have a last blast of heat soon. As I’m typing this, I’m not trying to drown you with “small talk” – but to realize that the problems or troubles we have on a day-to-day basis are nothing compared to what is going on in other places in our world.

The latest news shared about the Christian persecutions in Iraq and in other Muslim countries is unbelievable. These events are horrific and I often shake my head in disbelief as I’m reading about what has been happening over the past several months. What is even harder to swallow is the fact that the media seems to be totally oblivious to what is going on; the 1800 year old church in Mosul that was destroyed around June 20th (approx.) was only reported by the media a week ago! The events going on are best described as genocide or resembling ethnic cleansing. And it’s not just Christians but an “non-Muslim” people! Those persecuting Christians are executing Christians even though they promise to let them free if they convert to Islam on the spot.

What are we to do? Even if we could be there, I doubt that anyone in our community would have the expertise to know what actions could be taken (if any). What I propose is very similar to what other prayer warriors are doing on other social media sites; and that is to pray the rosary. We should pray for those who are viciously martyred, for the families that are stripped of their homes and loved ones, we should pray for those who are trying to bring peace and a sense of stability to these people….but we should also pray for the conversion of the Islamic extremists who are waging this war. Yes, I used the “w” word….this is a war on faith. Our greatest weapon – the rosary – can help defeat these terrorists by praying for their conversion. Please let me know what you think about this prayer project and I hope that our community can use our prayer power to help.

I’m sorry about the lack of communication lately, we had many things spring up on my family over the past few months and it needed 100% of my attention to get us through it (e.g. tax audit, etc.). We have also had some staff go on to leave due to going back to school and we wish them all the best, although “once a staff member, always a staff member” – LOL!

About a month after “Praising Him Loudly: Volume 3″ was released, I had a lot of bands email me and ask about PHL4 – I’m checking out the studio schedule and an announcement for PHL4 will be made soon. But the question I have is whether the community wants to release another compilation. Do we want to do one? The reason I’m asking is because the Catholic Metal community is not just me – it’s all of us. We have been releasing excellent music every January/February and I have been so impressed with the variety of the music, but also by the authenticity of the messages and the talent used to get the message across. I am also always humbled by the members of our community who continue to write, record and produce and share their music to the glory of God.
I would love to put out PHL4 – but the question is whether we, as a community, want to. Please let me know asap!! If we are going to do PHL4, I would like to have it announced over the next two weeks or so.

Yours in Christ,
