THEANDRIC

Hellow fellow metalheads in Christ!!!

Most of you probably already know of my band, THEANDRIC, but at least I can start an “official” thread, hehe.  You can check out our music at www.theandric.com, where the single “Veni Creator Spiritus” is available for free download.

I have been a fan of metal since I was about 12 years old when I first heard “The Number of the Beast” record by Iron Maiden.  I began playing bass at the same time, and later picked up guitar as well.  In addition to metal music, my second love is for sacred music, particularly choral music.  It’s tough to juggle everything, but I also contribute to my parish’s music program by cantoring, playing organ, and composing original liturgical pieces.  This year we performed some settings I composed of the Agnus Dei, Ave Maria, and later this month the choir will perform an original piece I wrote entitled “Deus Caritas Est”, based on Pope Benedict XVI’s prayer to Mary as found at the end of his first encyclical.

I wish that I could make a living with my music, but for now I have a day job working for the County Court.  I am a husband of 2 years and became a father this year as well.  Family life is awesome!  Still, I try to make room to write and record THEANDRIC songs.  I hope with God’s help to release a full album before too long.

I can state that there will be an official THEANDRIC single released at the beginning of 2011 – it is an EPIC song (and I mean EPIC, it’s 17 mintues long).  It is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Iron Maiden, and I think Maiden fans will get a kick out of it.  We’re in the last stages of recording vocals and mixing, and I’m super excited to release it!

I really like getting to hear the work of my fellow Catholic metalheads.  In fact, I had a great time recording some guest guitar solos on the Last Rites record. Thanks Sean!  in the meantime, may the Christ Child be born in your hearts this Christmas season!!!

Do you ever hear a song that makes you angry at the guys who wrote and performed it? Not because the song sucks, or you don’t like what it represents, but because you wish YOU had written it? Yeah, that applies to Adoro To Devote.

Some of you already know but THEANDRIC’s first official EP has been released, containing the EPIC single “Up the Irons (An Epic Hymn to Iron Maiden)”

The CD is available on Itunes, Amazon and CDbaby, and some other places too.

CDbaby is the only place to obtain the physical CD’s, which feature the striking cover art depicting Christ Victorious from the Book of Revelation.

Currently “Up the Irons” is the #1 track on CDbaby’s Heavy Metal and Progressive Metal Charts.  Deo gratias!

Paolo, I discovered your music from the compilation CD I got from here and I think you have a good concept going, blending metal with sacred chant. After listening to Morphia and then Virgin Black, I see that chant doesn’t have to be stale or dusty but can be vibrant and infused with new life.

This realization has led me to start researching the topic more, how to capture different diverse elements of music into a new genre of music that glorifies God and makes Him apparent to those who are listening to the music. I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for your new music and look forwards to listening to it.
