At 11:50 p.m. on February 1, 2014, PHL3 was finally released! The long wait was finally over; this compilation is a blending of older Catholic Metal bands and some new ones. All 16 tracks show a lot of promise and still carry on our collective mission as well as our individual goals as followers of Christ and His one true Holy Roman Catholic Church!
Were people waiting for this? For the past year or so, the Catholic Metal staff have been mining different social network sites, from facebook to twitter and “the seed is sprouting and growing” (Mark 4:27). Our Twitter account has over 30,000 followers, over 500 have signed up to our Facebook page and we will continue to grow. Our staff have been spending on average over 20 hours a week on social networking…and believe it or not, in the first 48 hours of PHL3’s release – we have over 150,000 plays!
I want to thank all the great artists/bands that contributed to PHL3. The compilation is an excellent addition to our combined discography. But I do have some requests of our community. First, please spread the word about PHL3 on your various social network sites. Some of you have been doing this already and this has been awesome. If you haven’t yet, please feel free to share our tweets or our posts – or make your own if you are so inclined. Secondly, could we please try to make some comments on the soundcloud.com site. We have a lot of “plays” but we do need more comments – if you hear a fellow Catholicmetal member’s song – please put in a comment with the track. I have put some comments in and I hope others in our community would feel free to do the same.
Again, if there is a social network that you feel we would benefit from, please share it with us. Our social network links can be found at the bottom of this post.
Also, we have PHL3 for free streaming and we have PHL3 available on Bandcamp as a download for a donation. The reason we have done this is to help cover some of our costs (e.g. website, website upgrades, etc.). We have a suggested donation of $5 but people can donate what they want. If anyone has any questions or comments about this, please email me at dave@catholicmetal.com and I’ll get back to you asap. Our community does have some costs associated with it and it would be cool if we could recover even a fraction of our running costs.
Anyhow, it is finally a time to celebrate our new release. Thanks again to everyone who contributed; our mission is indeed “sprouting and growing!”
